  • Schedule 40 PVC pipe is the standard thickness used for many drainage and water management applications. PVC pipe can handle temperatures up to 140°F. PVC is for easy installation and inexpensive shipping. 
    Schedule 40 PVC pipe exhibits physical properties and flammability characteristics. Typical applications include: chemical processing, plating, high purity applications, potable water systems, water and waste water treatment, irrigation, agricultural, and other industrial applications involving corrosive fluid transfer.
    Schedule 40 PVC pipe is durable and has high tensile strength. Its installation for commercial applications is simple with the use of primer and solvent cement. Pressure applications of PVC schedule 40 pipe involve the use of sharply angled pressure fittings.
    Schedule 40 pipe has the same outer diameter as the Schedule 80 but the inside wall lining is thinner, so its pressure rating is not as high. Schedule 40 is the more cost-effective PVC variety. Schedule 40 PVC pipe is usually used for commercial and residential drainage and wastewater removal.
    Schedule 40 PVC pipe, despite its thin walls and low temperature tolerance, has great chemical resistances and is at zero risk of rusting.
